Amazon Pauses Logistics Plan Amid Delivery Partner Complaints
Amazon has temporarily halted the transfer of delivery vans between its partner companies following backlash over exorbitant repair costs. The MOVE exposes growing inefficiencies in the e-commerce giant's sprawling logistics network, which processes millions of packages daily.
The company works with over 2,400 delivery service partners (DSPs) that operate Amazon-branded vehicles leased through third-party fleet managers. A flawed cost estimation system in Amazon's PAVE app allegedly caused repair bills to balloon from expected thousands to over $50,000 during van reassignments, crippling some small businesses.
Amazon acknowledged calculation errors and pledged refunds for overcharged partners, along with a 20% repair discount. Van redeployments won't resume until 2025 as the company addresses systemic issues in its asset transfer protocol.
